The Ultimate Nantucket Getaway: August 2nd - 6th
Penny Linn Designs and Greystone Needlepoint are excited to welcome you to a girl's weekend in Nantucket! We were itching to get away, and what better place than our favorite place? So pack your bags and all your projects and meet us in ACK August 2nd - 6th!
The weekend is free to join, and you can participate as little or as much as you want. Each day we’ll have different meet-ups or meals planned, and we’d love to have you join us for whatever you can make! Below is our schedule and top recommendations for things to do on the island when we’re not together.
We just ask that you sign up HERE to reserve your spot. We’ll be collecting emails to be able to communicate with everyone coming for the week to give current updates, weather changes, and up-to-date information.
Wednesday August 2nd:
Krista will arrive Wednesday morning and likely spend the morning/afternoon downtown shopping and eating. If you get in early, join us to explore the town. Lunch/Dinner drinks will be downtown TBD based on who is around and in town!
If you arrive on Wednesday check out Shannon's favorite garden tour: 67th Annual House & Garden Tour. This year's Tour, "Summer on Orange," will feature six homes and one additional garden. There will also be a complimentary tea at St. Paul's Church (20 Fair Street), and a boutique featuring many unique items. Advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended! Ticket price is $70 online and $75 on the day of the event. While on the tour be sure you say hello to Stitch Philly pointer, Carrie Griffith, as she works her post at 14A Orange Street from 1:15-4 pm.
Thursday August 3rd:
Head out to Sconset in the morning/afternoon to stitch at the beach. Take the Wave (Sconset via Old South Road route) bus to the last stop. You can also take an Uber/Taxi/Car out, but the Wave will cost you $3 (bring cash!) and couldn’t be easier. Pickup is at the bus terminal on Washington Street. Once you reach Sconset, grab snacks/breakfast at the market and walk down the street to the beach. Bring something to sit on, your favorite project, and some SPF!
While you are in Sconset town stop by Siasconset Union Chapel to see the beautiful architecture and needlepoint kneelers - just stunning! The Chapel is open during the week 10:30 to 12:30 pm for visitors to enjoy.
Shannon arrives just in time to join everyone for cocktail hour from 4:30-5:30 pm at sea Captain William Barrett's 1868 House. Hosted by Carrie & Rick Griffith. If interested in attending - please send Shannon a message at hello@greystoneneedlepoint.com for the address in town.
We will then walk over to Erica Wilson from 6-7:30 pm. Erica Wilson is the local needlepoint store on the island and one of our favorite stops in town. EW stitch session is first come first serve. We will see you there!
Dinner will be on your own as there are many great spots downtown to grab a bite. After you’re done eating, meet us for Karaoke at the Rose and Crown! We will sing the night away.
Friday August 4th:
Spend the morning recovering or grabbing breakfast. In the afternoon, we’ll get sandwiches at Something Natural and then head to Steps Beach to eat, stitch, and hang out for lunch. If you’re beached out (or want to stop by before lunch), head to Centre Point for The Red Thread Atelier Needlepoint Event from 10-1 pm. Shannon and Vaughn of The Red Thread will be selling an exclusive Nantucket scissor rope. Jackie from Halcyon House Designs will be customizing quarterboards.
If you decide to shop around town Friday morning there is a tour of the First Congregational Church and steeple from 10-2 pm. It's free admission. The tours are a great way to hear some of the history of the island and you have a beautiful view of the harbor. Our very own Stitch Philly friend Rick Griffith will be giving a tour at 11 am.
For those at the beach we'll call the beach day a little early so we have time to head out to Millies for dinner. We’ll meet in front of the Whaling Museum at 4 pm to take the Wave (bring $3 cash) out to Madkaet. We’ll hang out at the beach there and eat dinner at Millie's (around 5 pm), so come hungry and bring a sweater in case it gets chilly.
Saturday August 5th:
Meet us at Cisco at 11 am Saturday morning for a day at the brewery. You can take an Uber, bike, or take their shuttle (starting at noon) from the Visitors Center in town for free (always nice to tip them, so bring cash!). The brewery offers wine, hard liquor, beer, and various food trucks. Bring a project, an appetite, and some comfy shoes!
Dinner is on your own again but meet us at the Gazebo (on the wharf) for drinks after dinner and a night out!
Other downtown to-go lunch options: Surfside (Millie’s new reataurant), Walters, Cook’s Cafe, Fresh (order early!)
Coffee options: handlebar cafe, Island Coffee Roasters, The Bean, Lemon Press
Dinner: Straight Wharf, Brotherhood, Slip 14, or you can always grab a slice of pizza at Steamboat Pizza!
