Canvas Conversation: Colleen Frank
Colleen “Coco” Frank, owner and founder of Coco Frank Studio, is obsessed with needlepoint! To her, needlepoint is a meditative stress reliever, a creative outlet, and a way to connect with others. Working in software engineering and UX design by day, she started Coco Frank Studio in 2021 as a passion project to share her love of needlepoint and design with others. As she continues to grow her line of modern canvases and kits, she has also made it her business to make needlepoint more approachable and to inspire others to try new techniques.

I sat down with Coco and asked her 20 questions:
Favorite needlepoint project. Recently, the Plum Stitchery x Tara Gill menagerie series on 18 mesh. I am expecting a baby girl in September and stitched all four of them for her nursery. I had so much fun using different fibers and decorative stitches!
On your needlepoint Wishlist. I usually have no self control and will buy any canvas that I instantly fall in love with. My stash is getting out of control, but I love having multiple projects going at once. I recently caved and bought the Plum Stitchery x Riley Sheehey winter woodland stocking - I had to get it to stitch for my daughter! Can you tell I have an obsession with Plum Stitchery? I also love this I Love NYC bag on your site. I went to college in New York and love how this is a quirky representation of that time in my life.
Dream stitching spot. Anywhere I can stitch while hanging out with family and friends. Warm weather near water is always nice!
13 or 18 Mesh Canvas. Honestly both! 18 mesh for fine details and decorative stitches. 13 mesh for quicker, meditative stitching.
Last book you read and liked. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
Favorite flowers. Peonies, anemones, pansies
Guilty pleasure. Reality TV - if you watch Bravo we will most certainly be friends
On your nightstand. Needlepoint, an ort dish, an eye mask, and a glass of water
Currently listening to. Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino. Danny is just the best! Music-wise, I’ve been listening to a lot of Rüfüs Du Sol, but I usually gravitate towards hip hop. Fun fact: I interned at Columbia Records in college.
Currently watching. Better Call Saul and vintage Real Housewives
If there were more hours in the day I would. Hang out with my friends and family more. Go on longer walks with my husband and our dog Murphy. Stitch and design more canvases. Sleep longer.

Favorite places to shop. Every time I travel, I have to visit the local needlepoint shop! Otherwise, I’m usually scrolling Shopbop.

Favorite holiday to celebrate. Christmas. Family time, decorations, food, parties, and cozy stitching. I love it all.
Wardrobe staples. Elevated basics and fun, unique prints. Ulla Johnson prints are my favorite!
