Canvas Conversation: Amy Stone

Amy Stone is a New York-based creative content strategist in the luxury fashion and interiors industry, specializing in elevated social content. Relatively new to needlepoint, but a long time admirer of the craft, she loves the creative process and endless personalization of stitching future heirloom pieces.

Follow along on Amy's stitching adventures on Instagram here.

We sat down with Amy to ask her 20 questions:

Favorite needlepoint project thus far. This Nantucket Lightship basket coaster. I really took creative liberty personalizing it! In its original form, the canvas is a simple, unadorned basket on white. I added custom lettering, a counted scallop border, and a vibrant periwinkle background. I am so excited to see it finished as a mini pillow. Hopefully I’ll receive it back soon! (Update: see Amy's finished pillow here!)

On your needlepoint Wishlist. I have a few ideas for custom canvases in the works, but in the meantime I adore anything with a saying like this or this -- saying canvases always feel classic but I love the modernized designs of today

Dream stitching spot. Anywhere during the summertime, outside with an iced latte! If surrounded by blooming flowers, an added bonus

13 or 18 Mesh Canvas. Both -- 18 for smaller projects, 13 for larger

Favorite color. Any shade of blue: pale, periwinkle, navy, slate, cornflower, french, midnight

Favorite flower. Can’t choose one -- lilacs, hydrangeas, white peonies, white hyacinth, Lily of the Valley, Queen Anne’s lace

Guilty pleasure. Staying in pajamas and stitching all day on a weekend

On your nightstand. Diptyque Baies candle, D. Porthault cocktail napkin, a small lamp, Smythson navy notebook, a wooden Westie figurine my sister brought me from England, cell phone, a vase of white peonies, coffee table books

Currently listening to. “Every Outfit, The Podcast” -- the founders are so smart and the humor is dry and sarcastic, just my style. I also love their popular Instagram account, @EveryOutfitonSATC

Currently watching. Waiting for “And Just Like That” to premiere (can you tell I’m a big SATC fan?). I also love Million Dollar Listing New York

If there were more hours in the day. I would create more produced content for my blog and personal social channels

Favorite places to shop. For clothing, Ralph Lauren, Kule, Doen, Khaite, old J.Crew, and COS. For the home, Amanda Lindroth, Hill House, Ralph Lauren Home, Mecox Gardens, Bloom in Sag Harbor, KRB in NYC, Chairish, Etsy, and antique shops

Favorite Instagram follows. Nan Philip, Kristin Ellen Martin, Max Sinsteden, Nell Diamond, Chrissy Rutherford

Can’t leave the house without. Besides the obligatory phone/keys/wallet, I’d say hand sanitizer and sunglasses

Coffee or tea. Coffee, without hesitation. I make vanilla soy lattes in the AM and iced oat lattes in the afternoon every single day...

Favorite holiday to celebrate. Thanksgiving and 4th of July

Wardrobe staples. Polo cashmere cable knit sweaters, striped button downs, classic ballet flats, vintage Levi’s 501s, and tortoise sunglasses
